Straight answers to the questions homeowners and businesses ask us most about painting, washing, staining and coatings on the Crystal Coast.
Most of what people want to know comes down to three things. What will it cost, how long will it take, and will it hold up at the coast. The answers below cover those and the questions that come up on almost every estimate.
Don't see your question? Call 252-369-1111 and ask Adam directly. He's happy to talk it through, even if you're not ready to schedule anything yet.

Most homes fall between $2.50 and $5.00 per square foot. Size, condition, height, prep and the products you choose all affect the price. Coastal homes usually need more prep than inland ones.
The surfaces we'll work on, the prep each one needs and what's included, so you can see exactly what you're paying for.
Yes. We do residential and commercial work across Carteret County.
Most bedrooms take a day or less once the prep is done. High ceilings, dark color changes and lots of trim add time.
Flat on ceilings, eggshell or satin on most walls, and satin or semi gloss in kitchens, baths and on trim.
Yes. We plan the order of the rooms with you so the house stays livable.
Yes. Small drywall and plaster repairs are part of our interior prep.
Salt, humidity and strong sun. Paint over salt film, mildew or chalky old coatings lets go early, so we wash and prep first.
Not always. With the right paint and a surface temperature of 35°F or higher, exterior work can still be done well.
No. We just need access to water and power.
It depends on exposure. A yearly wash and quick touch ups on the sunny and water facing sides stretch the time between repaints.
At least once a year at the coast. Twice a year if the house gets heavy salt spray, a lot of shade or has trees close by.
It can if the pressure is wrong. We match the method to the surface, gentler on wood and siding, stronger on concrete.
Yes, every time. Paint and stain won't hold on salt and mildew.
When water stops beading up and soaks into the boards, it's time. Docks usually need it more often than decks.
Usually not. New treated lumber needs time to dry out before it will take stain.
Spring and fall are ideal, with mild temperatures and dry stretches of weather.
Yes. Quality epoxy coatings resist moisture, salt and temperature swings. Proper prep is what makes them last.
Foot traffic is usually fine in a day or so. Cars need longer, often several days.
Basements, patios, workshops and commercial spaces.
It can be. Texture applied before the mid 1980s may contain asbestos. Have it tested before anyone scrapes it.
Smooth looks the most modern but shows every flaw. Knockdown hides small imperfections and still looks current.
It's messy work, which is why we seal off and protect each room and keep the mess contained.
