What a good interior paint job actually looks like

Most people judge a paint job by the color. Honestly, the color is the easy part. What you notice a year later is whether the line at the ceiling is straight, whether the patch under the window disappeared, and whether the trim still looks crisp.

That comes down to prep and patience. Before we open a can, we cover the floors and furniture, fill the nail holes and dings, sand the patches smooth and caulk the gaps along the trim. Then it gets two real coats. Not one heavy coat that looks fine on day one.

Homes here have one more thing working against them. Humidity hangs around most of the year, and bathrooms and kitchens feel it first. We'll help you pick a finish for each room so you're not repainting a steamy bathroom ceiling two summers from now.

Interior work we handle

Walls and ceilings

One room or the whole house. Clean cut lines at the ceiling so the color change looks intentional, not wavy.

Trim, doors and stairs

Baseboards, window casing, crown, stair rails and interior doors. The details that make a room look finished.

Patching before paint

Small dents, anchor holes and cracks get filled and sanded so they don't show through the new color.

Kitchens and baths

Rooms that see steam and splashes get a finish that wipes clean and holds up.

How an interior job goes

It starts with a visit. Adam walks the rooms with you, listens to what you want, and looks closely at the walls and trim. You get a written quote that spells out the rooms, the surfaces and the prep.

On paint days, the crew shows up when they said they would. That's not us bragging. It's the thing customers mention most in their reviews, right next to how clean the house was when we left.

If you're not sure about colors, ask. Adam's been doing this for more than 20 years and he's happy to help you narrow it down.

What homeowners say

"Adam and his crew painted the entire interior of my house. They did a great job, very thorough. Cleaned up afterwards a pleasure to work with. Would highly recommend."

Stacy Tourigny

"Adam was recommended to me by a local paint company. He came out, got right to work and finished two bedrooms and a bath in two and a half days with two coats on everything. He even solved an issue on a window sill that I thought I'd need a carpenter to repair. Thanks, Adam, for a beautiful job."

Picking colors that work in coastal light

Light at the beach is bright and it bounces. A gray that looks soft in the store can turn cold in a sunny room facing the water, and a white can look almost blue by late afternoon. That's why we always suggest trying a couple of samples on the actual wall and checking them in the morning and the evening.

If you'd like help narrowing it down, Adam's happy to share what he's seen work in homes like yours. No pressure either way. It's your house.

Interior painting questions

How long does it take to paint a room?

Most bedrooms take a day or less once the prep is done. For a real example, one customer had two bedrooms and a bathroom finished in two and a half days with two coats on everything. High ceilings, dark color changes and a lot of trim add time. You'll get a realistic schedule with your quote.

Which paint sheen should I use in each room?

Flat works well on ceilings because it hides small flaws. Eggshell or satin is the usual pick for living rooms and bedrooms. Kitchens, bathrooms and trim do better with satin or semi-gloss since they wipe clean and handle moisture. Adam will walk you through it room by room.

Can you paint while we're still living in the house?

Yes, and most interior jobs happen that way. We'll plan the order of the rooms with you so the house stays livable while we work.

Do you fix dings and nail holes before painting?

Yes. Patching, sanding and caulking are part of the prep on every interior job. Fresh paint over a dent just makes the dent easier to see.

Do you do drywall and plaster repair?

Yes. Small drywall and plaster repairs are part of what we do, and they're often the difference between a paint job that looks new and one that just looks fresh. Bigger repairs get talked through at the estimate so you know exactly what's included.

Do I need to move my furniture before you start?

We'll talk through it ahead of time. Most people clear small items, pictures and anything breakable, and we cover the rest and work around it. You'll know the plan before paint day.
